First Spouse Gold Coins?

These are kind of neat. Anyone have a couple of these? |
Re: First Spouse Gold Coins?
I have a few, I treat as bullion coins only.:bull-buddy-icon:

Re: First Spouse Gold Coins?
I've found them to be one of the cheapest ways to purchase gold bullion on EBay. Generally can buy Washington or Adams NGC-70 coins for just over spot. Not one of the Mints better designs, though.

Re: First Spouse Gold Coins?
They are so damn ugly. I would rather pay a premimum and get Eagles.

Re: First Spouse Gold Coins?
I wanted to get the set but they are expensive right now, over a hundred spot every time I look.

Re: First Spouse Gold Coins?
I have jefferson, will not buy more unless at spot
what were they thinking? |
Re: First Spouse Gold Coins?
I don't think you'll be able to get spouse coins at spot, due mainly to the limited mintage(40k).....I may be very well wrong though

Re: First Spouse Gold Coins?
The 1st skank coins have been a total flop!
If these women were dogs, I'd shave their asses and teach them to walk backwards! The sub set might still have some promise...the first is the Jefferson Liberty, with the 2nd and 3rd coming out the third and forth quarter of this year. The 4th coin will be available in 2010. All the rest are worth spot or less. Maybe I'll buy the "Jackie O" later on? |
Re: First Spouse Gold Coins?
I have two half oz coins that I got at spot + shipping. The boxes are prettier than the coins.

Re: First Spouse Gold Coins?
Just not an interesting or nice looking series at all. At 1/2 of spot, I honestly still wouldn't consider buying them.
The most interesting aspect is that the U.S. Mint has a half ounce gold coin series for the first ladies and a four different base metal, six cent equally hideous piece of garbage for the presidents. |
Re: First Spouse Gold Coins?
ampex had a deal on them

Re: First Spouse Gold Coins?
THEY are NOT big sellers - might be rare in the future - the MINT melted tons of them!
|
Re: First Spouse Gold Coins?
Yes, I agree, the coins are incredibly ugly and hard on the eyes. Mint statistics show that they planned to have a mintage of 20,000 for each coin, but they couldn't sell that many, people absolutely hate the designs. So after the first three, they started making only enough to meet demand, and they've been selling less and less for each new coin. For instance, the newest one, as of this posting (the Jackson first spouse coin), has a mintage of only about 2500 uncirculated, proof a little higher. Now the Jackson coins are actually quite nice, so if you want a numismatic coin with a mintage of under 3000, you better get one now, because years from now they will be very very rare.

Re: First Spouse Gold Coins?
I bought this Jefferson hoping that it would develop a premium. It sold for about a $150 premium for a few months but the price collapsed rapidly. I sold it but too late, all I got was spot.
